Having to go back and join my ship tomorrow I will be away for four months , I'am going to try and keep this blog going as much as I can. Although I wont be able to post as often as I would like, being away will give me more time to work on the fluff and army composition.

Concept sketch COA Tribune

Have just put together a quick concept sketch of a COA Tribune/Captain, first time I have ever done a concept sketch, and I am extreamly pleased how its turned out.

The History of the Founding

After a long and prosperous history after being cut off from mankind since the beginning of Old Night, the malevolent eye of the universe finally turned its hateful gaze onto the Kardanalians of Cannakkali. Their world although not without its problems, was prosperous and progressive with a strong martial heritage. As prosperity increased so did the decadence in till finally, a new Warlord rose to prominence on the southern continent, the Taxiarchos of Delectation had united the Kingdoms of the south under his lurid banner ,and was marching on Wilusa the citadel of Kardanalians. The war was long, lasting a hundred and forty Solar cycles before the mighty walls of Wilusa fell and the Kardanalians were destroyed or enslaved by their vile enemy.
Unknown to the followers of the Taxiarchos, secret off world evacuations had been conducted by the Kardanalians, numbering tens of thousands of the best,brightest and hardiest of their number, none more so than their leader, the Legate Aeneas.

Aeneas led the exodites for many years through warp and void, until finally encountering the Imperial defence networks on the eastern fringe, an imperial interceptor squadron was dispatched from the picket fleet in the Umbrairian system. Miraculously hostilities did not occur and tentative negotiations were entered into immediately.

The Exodite fleet was escorted in system, Aeneas proceeded planet side with his Praetorians, where a covenant was reached with The Regent of Umbriar, allowing the Exodites sanctuary, in exchange for the pledge of loyalty to Him on earth.

The followers of Aeneas quickly adapted and integrated into Umbriarian society, excelling as artisans and soldiers. The Kardanalian armed forces became renowned along the arm of Sagittarius for their discipline and martial prowess. However the need for vengance still burned brightly within the pysche of the Kardanalians.

During the Anassis campaign the Kardanalien's fought alongside the Talon Knights Chapter Astartes, gaining great respect from the super human warriors.

Thus when the High Lords required the founding of a new chapter of Space Marines, the Kardanalians were nominated by Talon Knights Chapter Master Numikas as suitable gene stock.

Maybe they landed as refugees on the hive world Latium VI and were quickly recruited into the worlds armed forces, gaining power and status within the surrounding system before bieng recruited into the Astartes, and immediately going on a crusade into there home system. __________________

The Forming of the Fluff

I am still in the very early stages of the concept, however Iam looking for a very Greco/Roman ideal, without going down the road of the Ultramarines. I really like the idea of following the historical/Mythalogical aspects of Aeneas, but in the 40000 setting, ie making the chapter heroic fugitives and the last of their society that havent been enslaved or destroyed, and from then going onwards to greatness.
Iam thinking that they are from a world that had decended into civil war, with their antagonists being Slaneeshi cultists, prior to being defeated a relatively small contingent escape to a nearby system, and settle. Shortly after a fleet based Space Marine chapter (Black Templars) encouters and brings them willingly into the imperium. So impressed with the martial prowess and natural disipline of the population, they petition the high lords for the creation of a new Chapter.

I know I know, loads of holes, and very little detail __________________

More Research

Just been looking for some more pictures of Aeneas and have found these, I really like the shape of the helmet and the robe in the first picture. Might be the basis for a concept scetch for a Captain/Tribune or Chapter Master/Legate. Must get to work.

Hi guys I have been painting and modeling Dark Angels for the last few years and to be honest now feel that I'm pretty fed up of painting green. So having aquired some cheap marines off of ebay I wanted to create my own chapter. I have come up with the idea of calling them them the Children of Aeneas. Aeneas was a Trojan prince who managed to escape the fall of Troy before fleeing to North Africa where he had an affair with the Dido the Queen of Carthage. On leaving Carthage he arrived in Italy where he became the progenitor of Romulus and Remus and eventually the kings of Ro.me
I love all the classical artwork of Aeneas and wanted to incorporate it into the colour scheme of the army, its only early stages but these are the colours I have come up with.
If any one has any thoughts or ideas on the fluff or army appearance let me know.
